Briton Fabricators Ltd, long known for steel bridges and complex installs across the UK, reached a point where new kit was needed to support its work on major road and rail jobs. With the equipment supplier not offering finance and previous credit arrangements no longer active, the business asked its relationship manager at the bank for advice. That introduction led to Evolve Business Finance.
Briton Fabricators has been part of the UK bridge and gantry sector since 1973. The firm works on road and rail jobs for National Highways, Network Rail and HS2, covering the full cycle from design to install. Its site in Hucknall is one of the largest fabrication plants in the country for this type of work. Recent projects include work on Nottingham’s new Waterside Bridge, a major lift over the River Trent that drew crowds when it was installed. It marks the city’s first new river crossing in more than six decades. The business now employs around 120 people and has pushed turnover past £15m.
Briton Fabricators had used asset finance in the past through its bank, but the historic line was no longer in place. The business had not needed new funding for some time, so when it planned to invest in a significant batch of new kit, it wanted support in finding the right lender.
With the supplier not offering finance and no current facility to draw on, the team at Briton Fabricators Ltd asked the relationship manager at the bank to recommend someone suitable. That is how they were introduced to Stefan Radymski at Evolve.
Stef spoke to Matt Shaw, the firm’s finance director, to understand the planned spend and timing. With equipment already chosen, the focus was on arranging straightforward funding that matched the company’s needs and cashflow.
Evolve sourced two asset finance facilities that supported the purchase, with deals arranged through Lombard and Allica Bank. Stef kept the process simple, packaged the information in the way lenders needed and moved the deals forward without delay.
The equipment is now in place and helping the team bring more efficiency to key projects across the rail and highways network.
AStef made everything very clear. He knew the market well, set out the options and handled the detail with no fuss. We had two deals on the table very quickly and the new kit is already making a difference. We are very happy with the support we have received."
Matt Shaw, Finance director at Briton Fabricators LtdAMatt and the team were clear on what they needed to support upcoming work. Our job was to match that with the right funders and keep the process smooth. It was good to work with a business that plays such a key part in major UK projects."
