Troubador Publishing secures funding for family business buyout

Recently Troubador Publishing’s new owners turned to Evolve Business Finance to help them with sourcing a cash boost following a family-focused management buy-out.

Troubador Publishing, based in Market Harborough was founded by Jeremy Thompson in the 1980s.  With 26 employees and years of industry experience, it has built its name as an independent UK publisher which offers a variety of market-leading self-publishing services to serious authors.

Following a successful management buy-out, Alex Thompson opted to source funds to give the company some additional stability. The management buyout had depleted the business’ working capital and the additional funding gave the company some breathing room to continue to grow and develop.

After a recommendation from Troubador’s accountant, Alex contacted Stefan Radymski at Evolve. Stef liaised with Gary Newman at Santander UK, and they quickly set to work to arrange an unsecured business loan of £300,000 over three years.

What our client said

A“Stef and Gary made everything so easy. They’ve both got a lot of experience dealing with businesses like ours so totally understood what was needed. Working with them has been brilliant. With the funds now in place, we are excited to drive the next phase of Troubador’s growth, with fresh ideas and a vision for the future.”

What we thought

A"Troubador has been a key player in the publishing world since the late 1980s – it’s a fantastic business with huge potential. It’s been a pleasure to support Alex after the buyout. With the new ownership in place, I have no doubt the team will take the business to the next level.”
