As Evolve Business Finance continues to grow, so does the incredible team behind it. Jane Bexton, our office manager, is a vital part of the company, keeping things running smoothly and supporting every aspect of our work. In this Q&A, Jane shares her journey, motivations and a glimpse into her life – both in and outside of work.
How long have you been at Evolve Business Finance?
I’m still in my first year – I’ve been here since 1 March 2024. After many years of working with Stef in other roles, it felt like a natural step to join him at Evolve.
What do you do?
I’m the office manager. I handle admin, case support, diary management and provide support to Stef in running the business.
What attracted you to Evolve Business Finance?
Having worked with Stef before, I knew we’d make a great team. I’ve always admired his work ethic and had no doubt about Evolve’s potential under his leadership. I couldn’t wait to help him grow his empire – and what a journey it’s been so far! We’re smashing it!
What was your first job?
I started in recruitment. It began with work experience, and they offered me a full-time role – they must have liked me! 😊
What has been your proudest professional achievement at Evolve?
Being offered the role in the first place. It meant a lot to be the first addition to the team and Stef’s right-hand support.
If your job could be anything you wanted, what would it be and why?
When I was younger, I dreamed of being an actress. I even got a small part as an extra in an old Barbara Cartland film!
What motivates you to get out of bed and come to work every day?
I love what I do. It’s a joy, not a chore. Remote working and the flexibility it brings suit me perfectly.
Where do you work most frequently at home?
In my home office, though the view of my garden often draws me in.
Do you have any pets as in-house colleagues?
I share my workspace with three cats – Dotty, Dippy, and Nala – and my dog, Oscar, who I rehomed earlier this year.
What work skill should everyone have?
Organisation. Good communication and a bit of empathy are essential too.
What are you most looking forward to when you retire?
Owning a motorhome and heading off on adventures whenever I feel like it.
What’s your favourite way to spend a day off?
Pottering around the house and garden, walking the dog and visiting garden centres or a village pub for a bite to eat.
What cheers you up during the day?
The view of my blooming garden and Dotty snuggled beside me while I work.
How do you stay organised?
I swear by a good old-fashioned list and a trusty calendar.
